UP IN THE AIR {THE BESPOKE JET}

When you think of Interior Design, does your mind instantly think of the home? Did you know that interior design also goes as far as the interiors of jets? Most commercial airplanes, I must say, seriously lack in the aesthetics of design. They are made for heavy use, and function. Where as custom jets, designers have much more freedom to design.
With that being said, I would like to introduce the new Gulfstream G550!
It's a beauty!

"Inside a Gulfstream customized by Lee F. Mindel and Peter Shelton of Shelton, Mindel & Associates, two bands of unfinished oak wrap around the interior, creating horizon lines that seem to stretch the space. The same matte wood was used for the bulkheads. All of the metal control panels and cup holders have a matte nickel finish. The sofa, which converts into a twin bed, is upholstered in a gray wool flannel that matches the V’Soske custom-made carpet woven in five shades of gray. “It’s the palette of the clouds,” Mindel says." -AD

"For understated luxury, Mindel covered the seats with a Spinneybeck leather in a color he describes as that of an Hermès saddle. He specified topstitched seams, a reference to sporty driving gloves and the steering wheels of vintage motorcars. The tabletop has drop leaves that can be raised to expand its surface. Both bulkheads feature LCD screens. “We can watch two different movies at once,” says the owner. “We also have a PlaneView display option and can watch the plane take off and see the landing gears come down.” -AD
