This picture below shows a gap between two buildings, which is approximately 4 feet, 3 inches wide. It seems like this space is good for nothing more than what it currently is -an alley between the two buildings. But, would you ever think that this would be a great space to build a house?
Of course you did! It's obviously a brilliant idea!
Introducing: Etgar Keret's House.
This home, which is an art installation by Żelazna St., Jakub Szczęsny entitled Etgar Keret's House, will serve as a workspace for an outstanding Israeli writer, Etgar Keret. The structure is currently being made from steel in a workshop near Warsaw, and is expected to be completed this June. It will be the narrowest house in Warsaw!
A three dimensional steel frame is going to be the basic structure of the house, finished in plywood, insulated panels, and Styrofoam covered in white painted cloth. The interior will also be painted white to creat a spacey atmosphere inside this tiny building. The water and sewage system is installed in the house while the building next to this house will provide electricity. Currently this house only recievcs building permit as an art instalation since it doesnt fulfill any exsiting Polish building codes.
I think this project is absolutely fascinating! And it's so cool to see what other people are doing around the world. I can't wait to see this completed in June!
Woah that's crazy! Nice intersection of great design and great engineering :)
