CAPTURING SPEED

I recently discovered this New York artist, Kristin Baker.  What first drew me to her work was her unique abstract style; then however, after reading about her work I learnt an inspiration behind some of her paintings is speed. This spoke directly to me, and it was almost as if I understood the paintings and the movement they captured! I am a fan of speed (as I am very fond of my Mustang). But the idea of capturing speed in a way that is so visually stunning, I am an even bigger fan of! Here are some pieces from various collections that I love.
Back a Horse, 2011, Acrylic on PVC, 120x80in, 305x203cm

Full Dawn Parallax, 2010, Acrylic on acrylic with powder coated aluminum frame, 114x99in, 290x251cm

Matter Fracture, 2010, Acrylic on PVC, 80x100in, 203x254cm
This is my favorite from Kristin's 2010 collection, Matter Fracture. I'm obsessed with the colors and the movement!
Could you imagine having one of her paintings as a focal piece in your home? It's visually dazzling!
